I use the following three types of leash strings. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.

Normal type
It is a general Leash string. It is shaped like a rope. In my experience, it’s a relatively durable material.
The length of the leash string has to be adjusted by yourself, which is a bit annoying.
I have never run out of this type of leash string. However, since it is a consumable item, it may run out. I replace it every year. When you buy a new leash cord, it often comes with a leash string. Replace the leash strings at the same time as exchanging the leash cord.
Leash Lok
It is a product called Leash lok. It has a flat shape. It is in the shape of a ring. It is convenient because there is no need to adjust the length.
Of course, there is no problem with strength.
However, it is a consumable item and needs to be replaced.
I installed the Leash Lok on a surfboard that I rarely use. I haven’t replaced it for about 5 years. Then Leash Lok was damaged, and when I pulled it by hand, it broke into pieces.
I don’t know the durability of Leash Lok. However, I think it will need to be replaced in about a year.
New material （Included with the purchased Pyzel surfboard)
The Leash Strings that came with the pyzel surfboard I purchased. I’ve never used this type of leash string. It is a soft and fluffy material. It’s the right length. There is no need to adjust the length.
I don’t know the durability of this Leash Strings. Therefore, I decided to replace it in one year.
You can replace any type of leash string in a year.
I don’t know if one year is the right replacement time. If you surf a lot or surf in big waves, you may need to replace it sooner.
It is dangerous if the Leash Strings break off while surfing. The surfboard may be swept away by the waves and hit other surfers. You may cause serious injury to other surfers.
So that’s it. Regular replacement of the Leash Strings is important to prevent other surfers from being injured.
