Can’t you paddle and go back to the shore?

Can’t you crawl on SUP and paddle like surfing?
There is nothing you can’t do. However, if the SUP is wide, surfing paddles will be very difficult. It’s too wide for you to put most of your arms in the water. Even if you paddle, it is dangerous because you can not speed up.
How safe is it?
People who do SUP check the weather forecast. Find out the wind direction for the day. They may not do SUP when offshore. However, it is just a forecast. The forecast may be off. If the wind goes offshore on the sea … it will be washed away and die.
I thought SUP was easier than short board. However, SUP is more dangerous than I imagined.
