I recorded my surfing. It was a shock. I didn’t think it was so cool.
I can understand your feelings very much. I was also shocked when I first saw my surfing video.
You were the same as me, weren’t you? How did you overcome it?

Ryan Thomas Finless surfboard riding
Ryan Thomas is on a finless surfboard. amazing. Without fins, it’s very difficult to control. But Ryan Thomas is brilliant. The surfboard looks very smooth.
Watching this video, I realized again that having fins makes it easier to control the surfboard. At the same time, it was found that the fins acted as a resistance to water, hindering the smooth movement of the surfboard.
BRODI SALE Grab rail
Brodi makes a sudden turn on the surfboard by grabbing the rail. It also accelerates on the turn. I want to imitate.
Jack Robinson Take off position
I want to take off like this. The vertical position at the top of the wave, just before the wave breaks. I feel great if I can take off from a place like this. Also, Jack Robinson is looking in the direction after the takeoff. The surfboard goes in the direction you are looking. I think beginner surfers should imitate.
Parker Coffin has both elbows on the back side of the body when off-the-lip. It looks like the letter M. You can see that in the still image of the thumbnail on Instagram. In the video, it’s only a moment, so I wouldn’t have noticed it. I don’t know what it means to make this elbow the letter M. However, I’m sure it will work. The next time I go surfing, I’ll try to imitate it.
This is the image after making a turn at the top of the wave. I notice that Owen Wright’s right hand has a surfboard on it. In the second image, his right hand is near the nose. When making a turn, you can lead the turn by moving your right hand from back to front. I also move my right hand a lot, but like Owen Wright, I don’t move it enough to put my right hand on the surfboard. I want to imitate this movement. I’m sure it will have a positive effect when making turns.
Kanoa Igarashi Aerial
It is a very big aerial of Kanoa Igarashi at the Tokyo Olympics. It’s fantastic. Acceleration, pop-out angle, rotation, landing, everything is cool. It’s just amazing. I was impressed.
Nathan Hedge Front side off the lip
Conner Coffin Front side off the lip
Connor Coffin’s off-the-lip. Most parts of the surfboard do not touch the waves. The upper body is facing the next direction. I pay attention to the direction of his eyes. Connor is looking in the next direction. I think this preceding action is important. This is a photo with many things I want to imitate.
Italo Ferrira Ups and downs
Italo Ferreira’s amazing aerial. But I pay attention to the ups and downs before that. It is a dynamic body movement. I want to imitate how Italo bends his knees and how he stretches his knees. I also want to imitate the movement of Italo’s arms.
John John Florence Duck dive
It is a duck dive of John John Florence. It’s a very incredible video. John John seems to be gaining the power to dive by moving the surfboard. I’ve tried to imitate it, but I couldn’t do it at all because the surfboard came up.
Taj Burrow Front side long floater
It is a front side floater of Taj burrow. Taj is traveling a fairly long distance. Why does he travel such a long distance? It’s wonderful and cool.
Erin Brooks Back side tube
I was very surprised to see this picture. With such waves, this riding style is amazing. Erin Brooks is sure to enjoy surfing. This picture taught me that it’s important to enjoy surfing.
Nathan Hedge’s Front side off the lip. Most parts of the surfboard are not on the waves. Green side fins are coming out of the waves.
When I do off-the-lip, I turn earlier than in this photo. I want to do off-the-lip like Nathan Hedge. I want to see this picture many times and imitate it.
Jesse Mendes Back side tube riding
Jesse Mendes Back side tube riding. He is grabbing the rail with his left hand. I think he’s pushing the rail on the right side of the surfboard into the waves. Immediately after the takeoff, the right hand and hips are in the waves. I love grabbing rails and do it a lot, but my hips never hit the waves. I want to imitate Jesse Mendes and be in a low position so that my hips hit the waves.
Sage Erickson Back side off the lip
Sage Erickson’s back side off the lip. It’s a relatively small wave, and it’s a wave that many general surfers practice, so I think it’s a very useful video.
I’m paying attention to her upper body twist. She has a big left twist at the bottom. Use the force of the twist to direct the surfboard to the top of the wave. Next, the upper body is greatly twisted to the right. The direction of the surfboard changes dynamically using the power of the twist.
I watched this video and noticed that my body had less twist. The next time I surf, I want to twist my body even more.
Erin brooks Front side tube
It’s cool. Erin Brooks is only 13 years old. But her surfing skills are amazing.
Erin has been touching the face of the waves with her left hand. The bending of the left elbow is also cool. I want to do a tube ride in this style someday.
John John Florence Front side carving
John John Florence is one of my favorite surfers. To me, he looks very relaxed. However, there is a very large spray. It’s cool. I also want to make a carving like him someday.
Kade Matson Front side bottom turn
I’m watching this video to improve the bottom turn on the front side. Kade Matson raises his hips during the bottom turn. I imagine that the upper body is very close to the surface of the water and the right hand is in contact with the water. Notice the angle of the surfboard. It is tilted so that you can see the side fins on the left side.
I can’t make such a bottom turn. But I want to be able to do it someday. I want to practice more bottom turns.
Kyuss King Front side carving
From Instagram of Vanssurf, it is Kyuss King’s front side carving. The left hand is low enough to touch the surface of the water, and the left hand is the axis for the turn. At the top of the wave, I think he’s in a position where his right hand touches his right ear. I think this makes it easier to turn. The angle of the surfboard rail at the top of the wave is vertical. Everything is cool. I want to imitate his surfing.
